Debating

Your blog topic today is to argue your position on a controversial issue. Your opinion counts, but you must back it up with logical, researched arguments. Begin by stating your position and briefly summarizing your main supporting points. Then, expand your ideas and give more specific references. Creativity and expression are always appreciated. Once you have posted your blog, surf around through the other student blogs and find one that discusses your topic. Post a comment on another blog that includes some of your own points. As always...agree to disagree respectfully.

Anyone who hosts a party where alcohol is consumed becomes legally responsible for all guests. I agree with this concept, because no matter what how much the person is drinking its your responsibility to make sure their okay. If the owner is wanting to throw a party at their house, they need to make sure everyone has a ride home and safe. Underage drinking is huge all around the world these days. Teenagers are really stubborn who are wanting to drink and drive, can serve up huge consequences with having their N's are not allowed any alcohol in their system and if they get caught they get slammed and im sure its not the greatest feeling thankfully thats never going to be me. What ever people do like drink and drive and may even get killed in a car crash, the person who is hosting the party can get sued and could possibly lose their belongings. "DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE"

Stanley Cup

It had been the toughest 60 minutes of my life. 60 mintues of my life that I had spent breathing out my lungs and spitting out my guts. My legs were aching and my feet were covered in blood. Although I could not see it I could feel it soaking through my socks. My gear was soaked in my sweat and I could smell the horrid stench radiating off me. The fear of losing this game was far too strong and the fear of giving up was even stronger. We had not come all this way to lose but we did not come all this way to win without a fight. It was our only time to shine, today, now, in this moment. With the last minute approaching the score was 2-2 and our team was getting anxious. Every practice, every workout, every game had led up to this very moment. It was a power play for us and the puck was against my stick. I quickly snapped a shot from the corner and letting it go towards the net with two seconds left. The puck goes to the top corner of the net, the buzzer goes off and the bench goes wild. Rapidly my team members leave the bench towards my direction with looks of joy on their faces and relief in every part of their bodies. The excitment is unbearable and undescribable, after all none of us had every felt this feeling before. Our work had payed off and it was our time to celebrate and shine. It was the day that every hockey player could only hope for and now we were the team to accomplish it. The Stanley Cup in our hands.

Novel Synthesis

Your assignment today is to write a synthesis piece that combines your novel and a secondary text. You need to find a common idea between the two and discuss how EACH piece of text reflects that issue. You only need to give direct quotes from the 2nd text, but you must make specific references to your novel. Your opening sentences will outline the connection that you are focusing on.

As an individual you can create your own destiny on different paths you take.In "Slumdog millionaire" and "The road not Taken" both are great stories that are well connected to making choices and destiny. In fact, there is no such thing as destiny and life is all about the choices one makes. In the poem, "the road not taken" by Robert frost, demonstrates this in many ways. For example, the speaker has a tough time trying to choose which path to follow. "I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference". The speaker is trying to say that he wants to live a life that not many people like to take. As many people don't like to take risks and chances in their life time and not want to leave their comfort zone, As for the speaker he is totally the opposite of them. No matter what path this guy takes, every path has obstacles and pitfalls you have to overcome in order to get through that.

In the novel "Slumdog Millionaire" by Vikas Swarup, there's a boy named Ram Mohammad Thomas who has a rough neighborhood back when he was a child. He went through many obstacles and pitfalls throughout his childhood. With one path he accomplished, leads to another crazy path. Most of these obstacles he has faced, gave him free choice for example shooting a guy on the train and also killing his neighbor by accident. Also with Ram he has used a double sided coin with heads that will determine his fate in his life. At the end of all that, Ram's life has been all about free choice.

Rant- Mr Dueck

• Rant - get passionate, stir yourself up, say what’s on your mind and tell it like it is. Rants are great for starting discussion and causing a little controversy - they can also be quite fun if you do it in the right spirit. Just be aware that they can also be the beginnings of a flaming comment thread and often it’s in the heat of the moment when we say things that we later regret and that can impact our reputation the most.

There are several reasons why Mr. Dueck irritates me so much. Mr. Dueck needs to know how to gamble before he makes any deals out in public. He loses probably ninety percent of his bets! Maybe he should stick to the casino! He shouldn't be going off on a rant about how bad the Canucks are and making a comment almost every day about them.To show you how much Mr. Dueck knows about hockey, The Canucks swept St. Louis in four games while his favourite hockey team, The Edmonton Oilers, didn't even make the playoffs, and also the Montreal Canadiens, his second favourite team, got swept out of the playoffs in four straight games! Mr. Dueck maybe needs to do a little bit more studying about hockey before he opens up his mouth!

Review

The Canucks are the best team in the league this season. What makes them so amazing? Well along with having the greatest goalie in the league, they are a strong Canadian team with lots of potential to make it to the playoffs. Their experienced defence allows them to defend their net from their rivals and with a goalie like Luongo they have nothing to worry about. The forwards are rockets out on the ice and work together as a team to score goals to lead them to the top. With a coach like Alain Vigneault, the Canucks are led by a strong and determined man with the qualities of a respectable leader. Fin the mascot is at every game with his head held high and spirits even higher. He has the ability to keep the fans on their toes and their heads in the game. The shiny emerald green, solid navy blue and fresh white make the perfect combination for jerseys. Go Canucks go!
